Harbor City
Dalian, China

Urban Planner who supported the planning and design of Harbour City in Dalian, China, preparing site plan options, graphics, and narratives during the design process. Adam was fortunate enough to participate in charrette workshop starting with a tour of Beijing and continuing on to a week spent on-site in Dalian.

The project, as constructed, created a vibrant waterfront district organized around a central public core, with parks, squares, and semi-private green spaces that provide a range of experiences from lively public gatherings to quiet retreats. Streets and pathways are designed as walkable, human-scaled spaces, with amenities and landmarks placed within comfortable walking distances to promote a sense of belonging.

Harbour City’s design emphasizes a layered public realm that blends urban and natural elements, connecting active commercial areas, residential neighborhoods, and scenic waterfront spaces. View corridors are framed by signature buildings and civic features, enriching the pedestrian experience while creating a strong sense of place throughout the community.
