Apache Corners Master Plan
Payson, AZ

Senior Urban Planner leading the development of a master plan for a new entertainment district and commercial redevelopment on the Tonto Apache Reservation, anchored by the Mazatzal Casino. This transformative project reimagines the Tribe’s 330+ acres as a regional destination for recreation, hospitality, and family-friendly entertainment.

Phase One expands the current Casino district with a dynamic mix of hospitality, dining, and activity-based attractions. Highlights include the Heritage Distilling Company, featuring an on-site distillery and restaurant with panoramic mesa views to the north. A central outdoor public gathering space provides shaded seating, food kiosks, and room for performances and community activities, creating an active social hub. The regional travel center adds a new convenience store, multi-tenant commercial building, upgraded gas pumps, and improved circulation to serve travelers heading toward Rim Country. Phase One also introduces a 100-key hotel and a family entertainment center featuring bowling, laser tag, golf simulators, arcade games, and interactive activities for guests of all ages.

The future buildout will elevate the entertainment district into a premier regional destination. Phase Two will introduce substantial circulation improvements and expand the development footprint, enabling the relocation of existing community facilities and the addition of a massive indoor waterpark complete with slides, a lazy river, and a full aquatic center. These enhancements will complete the Tribe’s vision of a vibrant, multi-faceted entertainment district that celebrates community, draws regional visitors, and drives long-term economic growth for the Tonto Apache Tribe.
